The potential adverse effects of Fotona laser are relatively minimal compared to other types of lasers. One of the risks associated with laser treatments is called post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation, which refers to the darkening of the skin in response to inflammation. However, the likelihood of experiencing this side effect with Fotona lasers is relatively low.

This favorable outcome can be attributed to the fact that Fotona lasers, specifically the Nd:YAG type, have a diminished capacity to absorb melanin (the pigment responsible for skin color). This reduced absorption decreases the chances of causing damage to the outer layer of the skin (epidermis). Therefore, Fotona lasers are considered to be safer for individuals with darker skin tones, as the risk of unwanted side effects is lower.
